I’ve been wanting to try making sauce for spaghetti in my dutch oven but I’ve been worried about staining it. Has anyone tried this before in theirs? Thanks!

Am I the one dumbass that doesn’t cook and just searched Dutch oven and this was the first thing that came up?

  6. @sjs-k4j on February 10, 2025 at 6:58 pm

First, you should never use metal utensils in any Le Creuset pot as metal could scratch the inside. Second, the manufacturer recommends never using heat higher than medium because they conduct heat so well. Beyond those two cautions, they’re wonderful. 😊

I was so lucky to get one. I got it as a birthday Christmas gift.

What a crazy person come up with that horrible ugly colors?

  9. @Layput on February 10, 2025 at 7:03 pm

Somebody said that glass enamel on it will eventually deteriorate. The repeated expansion and contraction during heating cycles cause microcracks on the glass enamel.

is this a cast iron saucepan covered in enamel

There’s only one Dutch oven I know of and my wife hates it when I do it to her.

I have 2 le creuset pans. Food sticks on both of them. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.🤷🏻‍♀️I have a ceramic hob.

Amazon Basics is offering a 6 quart dutch oven for under 45 dollars. Blue one was 43 and green was only 32 dollars. Prefer blue but I have never owned a Dutch oven so went with the green

  14. @lorraine739 on February 10, 2025 at 7:06 pm

Mine lost its coating and burns everything

  15. @Layput on February 10, 2025 at 7:07 pm

I have 5 le crueset cookwares. 2 dutch ovens, 1 shallow dutch oven, 1 braiser, and 1 marmite and I have yet to use them. They are so heavy.

  16. @nvgirl1807 on February 10, 2025 at 7:08 pm

Very disappointed in mine. Had it a few months, treated it with care and recently cooked a slow casserole in it. When washing up realised the inside coating had cracked and crazed. Shocking given how expensive it was

Hi new here to Dutch ovens. I read about baking in Dutch ovens. How is it done ? Do I place the Dutch oven into the oven to bake ? Please don’t laugh at me .

This is not what I was expecting. I thought there would be tips and tricks about how to dutch oven the wife multiple nights. Oh well.

  19. @martinaohare5129 on February 10, 2025 at 7:12 pm

Did you mention that you cannot allow Le Creuset to get hot enough to sear meat? The enamel will crack and come off in spots. The customer service is nasty and unesponsive. The "lifetime" guarantee is a pure joke as they quibble over the least thing. They also require a receipt. Who keeps a receipt for a 8, surely it would disintegrate anyway. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON LE CREUSET.

Good insight on uses for a Dutch oven!

  24. @unsq8i on February 10, 2025 at 7:20 pm

I have been cooking for more than 15 years, mostly in stainless steel and non-stick/ceramic. I always wanted a Le Creuset but never justified the price. Recently, Le Creuset was on sale in my Local Williams Sonoma Store and I bought both the 5.5 & 7.25 qt pieces together for $670 instead of $970! Yesterday tried my first recipe in the 5.5 qt I made chicken with mushrooms in a creamy sauce. Had some issues first with adjusting the heat because I use an induction burner, but it was an amazing experience and the final result was phenomenal. I also made the most beautiful loaf of bread I ever made with it today! I now regret that I didn’t buy a Le Creuset piece all this time, definitely worth every penny.. the quality and the design are just unmatchable anywhere else ❤️ So excited to try more recipes with it 👏🤩

Love this list! 🙌 A Dutch oven is so versatile! I especially appreciate how it fits seamlessly with my home Kit decor while being perfect for everything from soups to baking bread. 🍲✨

You know the term "Dutch Oven" has a completely different meaning in the UK, right?

  28. @SonjaMorrison-i7j on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

So, basically, it is a pot.

  29. @machtmer on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

One key factor, at least in the premium tier: Staub indicates that theirs is not safe for glass-top ranges or induction. Mine is a Le Creuset and Shun kitchen.

  30. @alanhyt79 on February 10, 2025 at 7:27 pm

I bought my first Le Creuset piece recently. (I say "piece" as in "piece of art.") It’s a hefty 9 quart.
I have cooked with it once. The chicken turned out tender and juicy on a low heat slow cook.
Purchased a set of silicone cooking utensils so I wouldn’t scratch the enamel. I’m very cautious with that.
But I’m still afraid of using anything more than medium heat. The booklet that came with it scared me out of using high or even medium high heat. These take far longer to heat up than stainless or copper, but the warning about pre-heating no more than five minutes seems insufficient to preheat to low or medium.
I want to carmelize my food and create those acclaimed brown bits for my sauce. How can I achieve that without being concerned about ruining my prized French Oven?

  31. @jennygiallanza4524 on February 10, 2025 at 7:28 pm

I bought myself one for a Christmas present. I love it. Big fan now

  32. @MimSmartEBuilder on February 10, 2025 at 7:29 pm

Le Creuset really is the MVP of the kitchen! 🧡 I had no idea it could do so much beyond soups—baking bread in mine was a total game-changer! 🍞🔥

Sell it and buy one just as good from Forge. Use the $250 you get back to buy stuff to cook in it.

I had a 26cm blue cocotte for years. It was battered and worn, so when we downsized on retirement I gave it to my daughter. Well, I lasted less than six months before I broke down and bought a new cerise coloured one, the same size, in a sale. I love it so much, even though it is getting a bit heavy for me. So versatile.

  39. @MendeMaria-ej8bf on February 10, 2025 at 7:41 pm

What are the seven ways to use it? You didn’t show or explain them. I would have liked to learn if they can be used on an electrical stove for example.
