How to Make Strawberry Jam!! Homemade Small Batch Preserves Recipe

How to Make Strawberry Jam!! Homemade Small Batch Preserves Recipe

Learn how to make a small batch of homemade strawberry jam! Sometimes you don’t want to make 12 pints at a time. Or maybe you don’t have a canner. Well, this recipe is for you. Enjoy!

What you’ll need:
2 lbs fresh strawberries
2 cups granulated sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice

This recipe requires 2 lbs of strawberries which is approximately 4 1/2 cups of firmly packed chunked strawberries. You may use frozen berries if you wish but thaw them first. You can also use blueberries, raspberries, blackberries or any combination thereof.

Also, you cannot reduce the sugar in this recipe. It will not work. Since this is essentially a candy, it just doesn’t work with less sugar.

If you wish to use a candy thermometer, you can do so. You will need to cook this to 220*F.

Strawberries here are about $10 plus per pound. We don’t grow them. I splurged and bought 2 lbs and made the jam. It came out beautifully. From hereon I’m making my own jam. Much thanks for this recipe!

How do you deal with the seeds of any berry?

  5. @jingbowang7634 on February 10, 2025 at 7:00 pm

Did you filter the seeds or strawberry pieces or do you leave them in the jam?

I love this recipe so much and look forward to doing it again in the future… I wanted to know can you do the same with peaches. I have peaches from my peach tree and I was wondering if you have to use pectin, for peach jam

  27. @ravivo2001 on February 10, 2025 at 7:33 pm

something is not proportional with the sugar.. 1 cup equals to 200 grams of sugar. 400 grams on this amount of strawberries?? i think 240 grams is more then enough

    Not in international mesures 🙄

  46. @karenpeltier74 on February 10, 2025 at 7:49 pm

Can you use other sugars, like monk, Stevie, brown, coconut

  47. @discobikerAndRosie on February 10, 2025 at 7:50 pm

It’s not the same for ALL berries. There are a few that contain very little pectin & will not thicken like a normal berry. Autumn berries for one!

  48. @chrism1406 on February 10, 2025 at 7:51 pm

    That’s a lot of sugar isn’t it?
