It should be noted that the winning large Cuisinart hasn’t changed design in like 40 plus years. They are workhorses and they last. We’ve had ours I think 22 years and other than the blade recall a few years ago (which we had no issues with) it just works like day 1.

I enjoy using my knife. I can use my whisk. No need to waste $ on glorified gadgets.

I need something for chopping shelled peanuts for my wild bird feeders. Would this small one be a good, economical choice? $60 is not bird seed (no pun intended).

My first processor in the early 1970s was a Waring which at the time was half the price of Cuisinart which was a consumer version of the commercial Robot-Coupe. I replaced it in the early 1990s with a KitchenAid I’m still using in 2025. I also have a smaller Cuisinart.

The problem with food processors in general is time it takes to get them out, set them up, remove the contents from the bowl then clean and store them vs. just chopping things with a knife, using a garlic press or for purees and sauces using a stick blender which I also have. Over the years my KitchenAid has been used mostly for making my own hamburger and the small Cuisinart rarely used. It’s the #1 kitchen appliance I could most life without and not miss it. 😂

    Where’s the Breville?

  6. @francinecorry633 on February 10, 2025 at 7:09 pm

Drop the garlic cloves in with the machine running adding each one after fully minced, then proceed adding remaining ingredients. This a technique I learned from Rick Bayless 15 years ago.

Don’t you think the size of the family should have something to do with the size of your food processor?

  8. @juliequates9529 on February 10, 2025 at 7:10 pm

Im really looking at the Braun.

  9. @tvideo1189 on February 10, 2025 at 7:10 pm

Our large Cuisinart is 30+ years old now and works as well as the day it was bought.

  10. @vienna77 on February 10, 2025 at 7:11 pm

I’m not happy with my 7 cup Cuisinart. The blade sits too hight and it doesn’t chop very well. 🙁

  11. @dawnj2360 on February 10, 2025 at 7:13 pm

I just use my magic bullet when I’ve got something like salsa to make.

  12. @Chiamex on February 10, 2025 at 7:15 pm

I have a large Cuisinart and hardly ever use it. Can’t imagine why I bought it.

  13. @joelsmith552 on February 10, 2025 at 7:15 pm

I have a Kitchen Aid with two sizes of work bowl. It performs close enough to the Cuisinart my sister owns. I use a stick blender to make mayo typically, but if I do use the food pro, the small work bowl truly does perform better. When it comes to pure muscle and efficiency, I don’t know anything that compares to a Robot Coupe; but I’ve only used them in restaurant kitchens. They are not priced for the home consumer.

The cuisinart is great for home cook use but it is hard to beat a robo-coup for professional use, or a buy once approach to equipment.

  17. @onocoffee on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

I’ve been using the Custom 11 since 1989. One of them is still the original I bought in 1989. Workhorses and we’ve had them in all our kitchens. Best thing is that the motors never seem to wear out and you just have to replace the bowls every few years – not because they’re defective but because we wear them out.

  18. @rotcod2886 on February 10, 2025 at 7:27 pm

I’m suspicious that they’re both Cuisinart

  19. @docholliday4546 on February 10, 2025 at 7:28 pm

The small ninja is way better than ANY Cuisinart!

  22. @iahflier on February 10, 2025 at 7:33 pm

Forget about Cuisinart.. Brevillle sous chef with the dicing attachment is the way to go!

  23. @mariemarcum5613 on February 10, 2025 at 7:34 pm

I bought my first cuisinart dlc-10 when I was in college back in 1990. it lasted 32 years with regular use and dishwasher washing. Then in 2022 one of the little pieces broke off the bowl feeder and I bought a fp11-sv. Within 6 months the bowl had visible little cracks in it. Within a year pieces started disintegrating from the bowl where it attaches to the base. They sure don’t make them like they used to. Fortunately I had saved the old dlc-10 and glued the part back and saved it, just in case. Well just in case happened very fast, but I still don’t expect it to last forever. Where can I find a processor that is DURABLE?

  24. @SHalto142 on February 10, 2025 at 7:34 pm

Did you test them for whether the handles accumulate grunk that I can’t get at to clean?

  25. @Muddysmind on February 10, 2025 at 7:35 pm

Is this video sponsored by Cuisinart?

  26. @nathalie_desrosiers on February 10, 2025 at 7:35 pm

This one is suspicious. Is it a Cuisinart add, or… ?

  27. @chrisfeld3650 on February 10, 2025 at 7:37 pm

Very informative and helpful, unlike your website which i apparently hace to sign up and pay for to look at, which is super, super lame when i just watched this for free. Get it together, America’s Test Kitchen.

  28. @Jameson77777 on February 10, 2025 at 7:38 pm

I have a 9 cup kitchenaid that I thrifted for $15 brand new in the box. It does the job when I want to make a quick salsa or hummus.

  29. @barcham on February 10, 2025 at 7:40 pm

I have a large Cuisinart, but not the one ATK always recommends, because their recommended unit does not have an adjustable slicing blade. An adjustable slicing blade is an absolute must for me. If I cannot adjust the thickness of my slices, I might as well just slice by hand. And I do not want to have to purchase different blades as that only causes storage problems.

  30. @Heightsomethinghuman on February 10, 2025 at 7:42 pm

Thanks for the reviews! I will use your recommendation if my 25 yr old Kitchenaid processor ever wears out. So far it has been wonderful.

Uh, neither. By a Magimix. Best food processor on the market.

    Unreal- it does nothing else

  34. @sometimeswrite239 on February 10, 2025 at 7:46 pm

I had to replace a cuisinart a few years ago and went with a French made magimix. I love it! Not made in China.

  38. @juliequates9529 on February 10, 2025 at 7:46 pm

This would have been a better Tooele for the Gear Heads recent video where they actually did review differently brands. This was more of a size comparison.

  39. @brianj3150 on February 10, 2025 at 7:48 pm

I have the 5 cup Cusinart, It’s discontinued but it’s fantastic, I bet the motor on it is stronger than most of brand new ones out there and it still works like a charm. My wife is from Myanmar and Lemon grass is in lot of her recipes. Well she used to chop at with a clever till her hand got sores well after seeing her do this for like 4 years, I got an idea , I took a bunch of the lemon grass threw it in my food Processor and sliced it up in seconds, She looked at me slapped me and now I have to ask her before I can use my food processor 😂😂

  40. @timothysullivan6790 on February 10, 2025 at 7:48 pm

The “bowls” of Cuisinarts all break down. Before the motors break down, the replacement parts have become unavailable over time. And so, time to throw it all away. What a waste.
A rounded bowl bottom ought to often be better; somehow those machines are always inferior to Cuisinart for most jobs. Why? IDK.

  41. @davidromanovsky8857 on February 10, 2025 at 7:50 pm

This is the most biased channels, somebody is getting paid! Most of the stuff you recommend is garbage. I wouldn’t trust anything these people have to say. These are the facts!

  42. @epluribusunum1978 on February 10, 2025 at 7:50 pm

I don’t agree with their choice. I own the Magimix 5200XL, which is a solid workhorse. That 14 cup Cuisinart is ugly, IMO, and doesn’t come with included attachments I needed. The Magimix did. To each their own. If I didn’t get the Magimix, I would have gotten the Breville Paradice 16 cup. Cuisinart just doesn’t work for me.

  43. @blessed7015 on February 10, 2025 at 7:51 pm

What can a Vitamix blender do that a food processor cannot and vice versa? I’m starting to cook different things. I have a Vitamix. I wanted to know if a food processor would be beneficial as well.

  44. @norcoauctions on February 10, 2025 at 7:52 pm

dude, don’t say gorgeous when it comes to food. your cohost here is way more gorgeous than that freaking processor. also lose that stubble, not a good look for you, and lose 50 pounds and get your teeth fixed. you will be a boss. ATK should pay for all of that.

  45. @pembertonbray4603 on February 10, 2025 at 7:53 pm

I have a 3 bowl Cuisinart and a mini chop. My mini chop came with a stick blender. I use the mini chop more bc my Cuisinart is big and heavy.

  46. @Butterb0ne on February 10, 2025 at 7:54 pm

Well, crap. I just bought the Cuisinart 7-cup model a few days ago. I guess it’s not good for anything.

  47. @Skene63 on February 10, 2025 at 7:56 pm

Here comes the yearly plug for the Cuisinart food processor. I own this machine but to see a comparison year after year is a bit too much.

Re: Breville….Buyer beware. I have the Breville Sous Chef Pro 16 cup (BFP800BSXL). I purchased it 2016 from Amazon. There are some now-known issues with the bowl cracking — had I known this at the time, I think I would have selected a different option. The bowl that came with mine was the “old” version — I believe Breville changed the bowl once the cracking issue became known. My bowl fortunately did not crack until some time in 2023. I attempted to order a replacement bowl on Breville’s website, but it was out of stock. I contacted customer service, and the lady told me if I input my email address (there is a “notify me when in stock” option on their site), I would be emailed when the replacement bowl was available. The Breville replacement bowls compatible with my model that were listed on the site were 1) the bowl identical to the one I have now that is cracked, and 2) the “newer” redesigned version. At the time of initially searching, the “newer” version was $50-something. After giving Breville my email address, I received LOTS of Breville promo emails. But never a notification of restock of the replacement bowl. I finally got fed up and unsubscribed and took it upon myself to check several times a week to see when the bowl was available for purchase. It has remained out of stock for nearly a year now…and the price has increased to $75!!!! So….for 3 Breville replacement bowls (assuming they ever are in-stock again), I could have purchased a 14-cup Cuisinart. With the Cuisinart, you can store all the accessories within its bowl, whereas the Breville comes with its own 3-car garage full of accessories…and I honestly have only ever used the S-blade and the adjustable slicing blade. So the Cuisinart would have saved lots of storage space. Anyway…instead, I am stuck with a Breville which was WAY more out-of-pocket than the Cuisinart, but that I cannot use to process anything other than vegetables (unless I want to simultaneously paint my kitchen with hummus/salad dressing/etc), while I wait for a bowl that seems to have same the availability of a unicorn. And I GUARANTEE you if I finally bite the bullet and buy the Cuisinart, the very next day will be the day the Breville bowl would come back in stock. 😂

The small one is also really good for making pasta dough with one or 2 eggs.
