THE BEST KNIFE SHARPENER PERIOD! EASY TO USE, WORKS FAST!

THE BEST KNIFE SHARPENER PERIOD! EASY TO USE, WORKS FAST!

Abraham Lincoln was quoted as saying “ Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the ax.”

Do you sharpen your own knives or bring them to a professional? If your like me, you’ve tried to do it yourself with a variety of sharpening tools. I’ve found that I can sharpen them to a decent edge, but not a professional edge. That’s all until I tried the Work Sharp Ken Onion Edition Knife Sharpener. It’s easy to learn to use and has professional features such as 5 premium abrasive belts, variable speeds, adjustable angles, and a precision guide. If you watch the video all the way through, you’ll see a wide variety of knives that this sharpener can handle. I even sharpened my maul/axe with it.

13:00 that is the best, most foolproof way to take a good chunk off your fingertips. Plenty of vids on Youtube on how NOT to lose digits!

So the original one is no good? Since it only has 20 degrees?

  5. @brucemcdonald6677 on February 10, 2025 at 6:57 pm

I bought the grinder attachment for the Ken Onion sharpener. Not sure I even need it. Doesn’t seem to get as accurate an angle or as sharp? Thoughts?

  6. @garysmith7832 on February 10, 2025 at 7:00 pm

You can’t make a bur on both sides of the blade

  7. @SpiritualDevil on February 10, 2025 at 7:03 pm

Mark! I will get my K.O. Sharpener today itself and watched your video start to finish to learn what I was getting into. Seems I’m getting more than I bargained for since I’ll be able to sharpen axes, mower blades and more! Mostly I’m going to put an edge back on a recently etched and washed blade that I will also get in the mail today itself. Much appreciated video sir! Thanks for sharing! Rey : )

i bet you haven’t felt a sharp knife. Work Sharp original or the ken onion like i have are worthless. garbage. only decent for an lawnmower blades.

  10. @BlankSlate1111 on February 10, 2025 at 7:06 pm

How many knives will one dedicated belt sharpen before needing replaced? I like this system, already looked it up on amazon, but don’t want to be replacing belts after 4 or 5 sharpenings.

  11. @Maineicefishingenthusiast on February 10, 2025 at 7:07 pm

Nice. Thank you. Looking to get one!

I have been using KO for my Zwilling kitchen knives, however I cannot get knives as sharp as shown to be able to slice a paper. Strictly follow instructions, watched many videos… disappointed with results. Looks like I do something wrong. Any advices?

  14. @thefishinglor6931 on February 10, 2025 at 7:08 pm

their belts can be more recognizable, i always have to go through a box just to find the belt I need because theyre so similar they all look the same

  15. @jexmartinez9343 on February 10, 2025 at 7:13 pm

    No, I bought it and returned it. It works fine, ,,,,,,but you can achieve the same results or better with other less expensive sharpeners. Here is why;
You are suppose to rest the knife against the guide and pull, that works for big knives. But I found that for small EDC pocket knives, only 3/4 of the knife make contact with the belt. The tip of the knife misses the belt using this method, which is "to maintaining the knife resting against the guide and pulling it".
If I have to come off the resting guide to sharpen the tip of the knife, (minute 6:35) then you are no longer at the specified angle that makes this tool so appealing. At that point you are simply guessing a sharpening angle.
I do believe your video is very informative and you show exactly how the tool works. I just feel is a bit price for my application which is small knives.

What is even better is to buy the elite blade sharpener attachment for the Ken Onion sharpener. That is a game changer. I have found that instead of keep checking the level of the knife before each pass I use the small round bubble level that is sold on Amazon for a couple of dollars. I attach it to the knife using a piece of fridge magnet. Keep the bubble in the center while you pass the knife over the belt. Viola a few passes and you can shave with that knife. Better than all the stone or the Russian sharpeners.

  17. @brentdiez7012 on February 10, 2025 at 7:14 pm

quick tip. Get an old knife from a garage sale or goodwill and practice with it. I have one that I got from goodwill that has turned out to be one of my favorite knives, now that it is sharp.

  18. @jrockofages5413 on February 10, 2025 at 7:14 pm

This thing works amazingly well. My six-year-old grandson sat with me yesterday as I sharpened knives and asked, Poppy, can I have this when I get older? I said, you bet! As long as you keep my knives sharp! Deal!!!

  19. @bertram_oredrock on February 10, 2025 at 7:14 pm

It’s too expensive. I have a Lanski ($15.00) sharpening device that works great except it’s time consuming and requires a lot of effort. I’m looking for something cheaper, easier to use, and electrical driven motor. I’ll keep looking.

  20. @rccritch5505 on February 10, 2025 at 7:14 pm

I do hand sharpen all of my knives and don’t buy the little hand held type they wear out quickly. This looks more like what I want. I have very long and thin kitchen knives and hate scratches on expensive knives. and my wife is very persistent about would you sharpen my knife,, spoiled is what I call it.but I do enjoy a sharp knife

  21. @599Honda on February 10, 2025 at 7:15 pm

I came for the review of the sharpener but stayed for the Minnesota North Stars hat!!!

  22. @DougMclane-jf6nq on February 10, 2025 at 7:16 pm

How do i know that was the same knife you just sharpened? Idiot

  25. @Nobody-xh5qe on February 10, 2025 at 7:21 pm

Looks like what I need I use my pocket knives a lot of work now and not really good at sharpening this is pretty easy though.

  26. @JoeMasepoes on February 10, 2025 at 7:22 pm

Nah, a simple cardboard wheel is the go, on a grinder… period.

  27. @KeyCalculus on February 10, 2025 at 7:23 pm

Thanks for showing the sharpener, but I wish you didn’t push everything so close to the camera that it goes out of focus – very uncomfortable to watch.

  28. @brianloeffler2245 on February 10, 2025 at 7:24 pm

Pretty thick piece of paper you were cutting. It’s not that tough to get a knife to slice paper. Try a paper towel then you know it’s sharp !! paper big deal !!

  29. @meaty109 on February 10, 2025 at 7:25 pm

XLNT video……just got my Ken Onion……Im gonna use it for the first time in the morning…..Thanks for the great tips Mark. Mostly kitchen knives for me.

  30. @grovesy333 on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

This system is amazing I done 3 beater pocket knives on it had to reprofile and fix 2 of them got them all scalpel shaving sharp, done my brothers full kitchen knife set as well as our homes chefs knife yesterday on the blade grinding attachment it’s now wicked sharp it thinly slices a lemon no problem I had an accident on it today unfortunately but that will definitely teach me to be careful with knives from now on especially after being sharpened

  31. @vernkay. on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

Awesome video, do you recommend using a Ken Onion sharpener for a sharpening business?

Convex grinds are fairy tale BS – never going to but a grinder that fks my primo blades

  36. @peterspeets9950 on February 10, 2025 at 7:38 pm

Just bought it and it’s a great sturdy, easy operating good designed sharpener. I had the chef’s choice cc120. The knives got sharp with this one but not razor sharp. The Ken onion does it. The only thing I don’t like is the dust from the sanding belts.

  37. @harrietnesson8832 on February 10, 2025 at 7:40 pm

  43. @notanotherswordreviewchann4901 on February 10, 2025 at 7:43 pm

I just sharpened my 36" longsword with this thing. Freaking awesome!

  44. @madewithscraps on February 10, 2025 at 7:44 pm

I have had one of these sharpening units for many years now and dislike it every time I sharpen a knife. Does it sharpen the blade? YES. Does it leave a definitive, FLAT angle on the blade-Not Really, due to the belt, it is a Rounded Edge. Is it fast? YES. Is it easy to use-YES. I prefer a Straight, Flat Angle on my blade, with a stone. Does that take longer-YES. IS the result better-Yes. Nice video though.

  47. @paulvail2850 on February 10, 2025 at 7:48 pm

I have had this system for about a year and a half now. It is fantastic. My wife loves the way the knives work when I have given them a touch up. I am in a small apartment with a small kitchen, otherwise, I would leave this set up all the time. My brother just got this system and he is ecstatic.

  48. @eugenevictortooms4174 on February 10, 2025 at 7:48 pm

This is probably the best video I’ve watched about the Work Sharp Ken Onion yet.
I really need to get one. I only have a sharpmaker & it’s great for touch ups on smaller blades but I think I’d have much more success with the Work Sharp.

  49. @funlovingJohn on February 10, 2025 at 7:49 pm

They are all toys compared to a 10" wet stone wheel sharpener.
