My biggest concerns with a scale is the micro weigh. I didn’t even know that was the name for the problem I have with my scale. It can’t read small grams. So I guess I’ll end up going with the my weigh scale

Uhhh…. under Speed in the micro-weight section, y’all said the Ozeri was a little better…. but it jumped straight up to 7 grams. πŸ˜… Though the person also might have been pouring just too much too fast. Either that scale was the worst, or it should’ve had a second try with a slower pour. Y’all should micro-weight test from a spoon or something, so you have a bit more control than trying to tap from the box.

I have a cheapy Weight watchers scale and was using it recently to weigh out 2 lbs of raw chicken. Do these scales Not do pounds? I had to just calculate so many ounces which kinda threw me. Seemed like I had this Gigundo pile of meat on the scale. The pkg I bought was approx what I needed for the recipe but with a bone. So I cut the meat off the bone and then started plopping it on this tiny scale. What a fiasco … Why did I think it would be so simple to just find 2 lbs of meat?

  9. @lesliebaldwin5645 on February 10, 2025 at 7:10 pm

What about scales that have facility to remember recipe amounts and allow to make different size amounts

  10. @blayne2029 on February 10, 2025 at 7:11 pm

    solid

  11. @rohanlg790 on February 10, 2025 at 7:12 pm

Unless you are going to pay thousands of dollars for a lab scale. Being able to have a high weight limit and also reasonable accuracy below 1 g. Is just not feasible. If you are weighing small amounts like 0 to 2 g do you need a high precision scale.

  12. @stevethea5250 on February 10, 2025 at 7:14 pm

0:46 hi why minimum 11lbs weighing? And not 5lbs

  15. @user-lz6dm5lk9y on February 10, 2025 at 7:18 pm

Very fun and helpful review. Thank you. None of them is perfect for one reason or another, but I agree the OXO seems the best if both quality and space are important. I just wish it was more like $30. Anyone want to gift me an OXO? πŸ™ƒπŸ˜„

  16. @Bydey on February 10, 2025 at 7:19 pm

This review was amazing. You helped me make the choice of the Oxo. I am a calorie counter and use my scale every day all day and the current one I have now is a pain in the ass. Looking forward to this nice upgrade.

  21. @bettyspencer3120 on February 10, 2025 at 7:22 pm

Since you only work in grams as I do, I was surprised that you didn’t mention gram measurements in your testing! I’m currently seeking a scale that can measure 0.25g and 0.2g! I think that’s called metric grams or something like that. My scale will only give me 2g, which is not accurate enough for my formulations! Any suggestions?

  22. @Amamalilisasa on February 10, 2025 at 7:22 pm

Excellent review. Well organized, clear, honest, and funny. I really appreciate that you use them for a good length of time before reviewing. My only suggestion would be to measure light, mid, and heavyweight items for which you know the exact mass and compare their accuracy. I look forward to watching more of your videos.

  25. @LaOwlett on February 10, 2025 at 7:23 pm

For teaspoon precision, just hit up your local head shop. Those scales do fractions of ounces and grams.

  26. @JohanLarssonKiruna on February 10, 2025 at 7:23 pm

I’m surprised there were no tests regarding accuracy. Isn’t that among the very most important things when it comes to scales?

And the thing that led me to get rid of my expensive, good looking, well functioning, easy to use, and accurate Soehnle Page Evolution Kitchen Scale was its short battery life. I didn’t use it very often, months in between, but and had to exchange the battery every few times I used the scale. Such a thing is hard to test for.

  27. @gioarias75 on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

Oh, I totally agree with you the XOXO even though I haven’t bought it yet I’m sold. Thank you so much for doing all the legwork the comparison, the price, the whole shebang you save me a lot of time and money and headaches.

Agree about the Taylor design. It super frustrating to use those but they compact so you can easily weight something outdoor but I would go with mechanical one then.

  35. @Kitkat-qq7oh on February 10, 2025 at 7:37 pm

Whatever happened to this great couple? I miss them 😒 and their wonderful posts!

  36. @DanOblinger on February 10, 2025 at 7:38 pm

WOW! I only wish all products were reviewed with such detail and care! yeah American Test Kitchen cannot touch this review. Spending a month with the scales really pays off!

  37. @liquidrl5263 on February 10, 2025 at 7:40 pm

How’s the battery life of the OXO scale?

  38. @shelleyhuskey1216 on February 10, 2025 at 7:42 pm

Great review! When I saw the OXO, I thought it looked very similar to the scales I used when I worked in a lab, so I am going with that choice. Thanks for this review.

  39. @LabiaLicker on February 10, 2025 at 7:45 pm

Great review. I just wish the my weigh could show at least 1 decimal point for grams….

  40. @ZaCloud-Animations___she-her on February 10, 2025 at 7:46 pm

Huh… disappointed that these all only do whole-number grams (which, apparently, they’re also allowed to be 1-2 grams off by their own standards). Even the OXO was 1 gram off in the intro apple demo, while the rest were fine. Aren’t there any scales that’ll show grams with a one-tenth decimal (that also don’t suck in other ways too much)?

  41. @1drewcarpenter on February 10, 2025 at 7:48 pm

I calorie count and use food scales daily. Every scale I’ve purchased to this point has failed me. I’m currently in the market for another as the ones I have are hanging on by a thread. This review was extraordinarily helpful and I am very grateful to you both for putting this together. Thank you!

  42. @quinton1661 on February 10, 2025 at 7:49 pm

I’m on my second MyWeigh. The first one lasted about six years before the power button broke through. I opened it up, cleaned all the years of food out, and made a makeshift power button with tape and printer paper. It now lives in the garage.

The new one replaced it in the kitchen. Yes, it’s huge, but it is by FAR the best consumer scale I’ve ever had. You can turn the speed up so that it responds to changing weight (you showed this but didn’t explain), and will weigh something as little as 2 grams.

It also holds its calibration very well. Yes, I’m that guy that calibrates his scales. After years of kitchen abuse, it was only off by maybe 2 grams at 5 kg after an initial break-in period where it varied a bit. Its accuracy is nearly the same as my A&D 6000i professional scale. Both repeatability and precision are top-notch.

  43. @ChozoSR388 on February 10, 2025 at 7:51 pm

It’s Ox-o Like Oxo Good Grips?

  44. @yutehube4468 on February 10, 2025 at 7:52 pm

My current ones that have a 5KG limit and weigh in 1g increments, seem accurate at lower weights but when it starts getting past 2.5 KG they read about +60g heavier than the actual weight. All I care about it the accuracy at all weights. If I only use those scales to weigh something that’s say 2 KG and I want to divide that into 20 containers then I do end up with 100g per container, so they are accurate "to themselves" but overall on heavy weights, not accurate.

  45. @RoyRodgers-pw4gm on February 10, 2025 at 7:54 pm

Step outside the box. Chemistry scales are a bit more expensive but will give you 3 decimal places on the gram scale. They use superior sensors and come with calibration weights.

  46. @1Hope4All on February 10, 2025 at 7:57 pm

I’m very late to the game here, 2 years late. πŸ˜‚ But how do these work in reverse? Does anyone do the reverse tare? Which one is best for reverse?

That OXO scale went up in price. Of course! πŸ˜’ It’s been two years. Inflation! I hate it with the "fire of a million suns!" πŸ˜‚ it’s now close to $56 on Amazon.

  47. @MadPick on February 10, 2025 at 7:58 pm

What a fantastic review! I’m looking for a new kitchen scale to address exactly some of the issues that you tested, such as speed of weighing. THANK YOU!

  48. @azaaneyaad5961 on February 10, 2025 at 7:59 pm

Extremely high quality review and video. Fantastic work, thanks so much and keep it up!!! πŸ™‚

  49. @frangordon9215 on February 10, 2025 at 7:59 pm

I agree that Taylor is a poo-poo scale! I will go with the OXO.

What about Escali Passo? I need a review, just 1 opinion, I’m not asking for much.
