Love the idea of keeping all the pet items contained in one drawer as opposed to being placed in an open area like the pantry or cabinet.

Ella es soltera minimalista y tiene la misma despensa que yo con marido y dos hijos en España , que me considero todo lo contrario a minimalista 😂 . Las cosas culturales son curiosas

Complains about a ”small” kitchen, but it’s bigger than my living room and is so high we can’t even see the ceiling. Also proceeds to put the toaster back on the highest shelf… for that one time in a month when you don’t pay someone to toast your bread. Useless video.

  16. @schelinx on February 10, 2025 at 7:24 pm

where do you get the plastic for the kitchen trash bin Hallbar that fit?

  17. @akinokusami3623 on February 10, 2025 at 7:24 pm

As a single guy, I never thought about putting my fancy toaster & kettle, which I rarely use, away into one of the cabinets to make space in my tiny kitchen. So obvious!🤦🏾‍♂️

One small criticism about your cooking ingredients placement:
Spices, powders, and oils are affected by heat and by moisture.
That means it isn’t wise to place them above the sink or stove, as sinks and cooktops/ovens generate heat and moisture that rise and affect things stored above. This is especially important if you don’t cook much; your ingredients will sit and be exposed to this longer since they won’t be used up as quickly. The spices’ flavor oils will lose potency, the powders will break down, ad the oils will more rapidly go rancid.

I would also recommend fragile items like glassware, dishware, and service ware be placed on spongey shelf liners, so they don’t slide too easily when bumped during access. Since you live alone, likely you don’t regularly use all your glassware; they should be stored upside-down, to avoid dust settling in the least-used glasses.

As time goes on, I am becoming more and more convinced that base cabinets should all be drawer base cabinets; it serves no useful purpose to leave them empty caves requiring crawling on the floor to access the interiors fully. I also feel base cabinet toe kicks should, when possible, be set up as drawers, to store baking sheets, cutting boards, and kitchen towels. Toe kick drawers could even be used to store soup cans, creating or enlarging pantry storage.

And I love the ‘hidden drawers’ inside the larger drawers. Genius.

For specialty items, like the gluten-free snacks, I would think a 3/4inch circle sticker would be better than a small-font label. A bold color, like blue or green, would make it clear what is stored there, or even a grey or beige spot would more effectively mark the gluten-free container while remaining within your kitchen’s aesthetic. Just a thought. Graphics are a quicker ‘read’ than text and create less visual clutter.

I feel we need to stop using the term ”junk drawer’ and replace it with ‘utility drawer’. Words have a psychological impact; ‘junk drawer’ encourages using the space as a repository for deferred decisions, leading to an accumulation of junk items, like dried-up pens, dead batteries, twist ties, crumbling rubber bands, and orphan screws. A ‘utility drawer” is intentional; it is stocked with purposeful items, like small hand tools and essential supplies. It’s where you turn for a screwdriver to tighten something on an appliance, where you go for a boxcutter or some tape, where you find Command hooks and extra adhesive strips. But as you’re working in the kitchen and you’re trying to get rid of something in your hand, you hear yourself saying in your mind "Put it in the junk drawer for now". You won’t be saying "Put it in the utility drawer for now"; that would feel wrong.

    Where are your slipper from?

  20. @melissamehlerburns1202 on February 10, 2025 at 7:25 pm

Curious about your thoughts on a backsplash, Benita. Do you think you’ll install one? I like a simple tile, but a semi- or high-gloss paint is nice as well.

  21. @feliciaschoenfeld5177 on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

My advice: get ridd of these too deep + too high top cabinets. Every kitchen in the Western world wants them. But they make people miserabele.
These traditional cabines require dangerous steps and painfull reaches all day. And they are clutter magnets because they are too deep.

  22. @danibryant9318 on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

Such a good job on organizing everything

  23. @giantqtipz6577 on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

question, are you using a special paint for backsplash? parts of the wall arent covered with tiles it seems

  24. @anonymousperson4363 on February 10, 2025 at 7:27 pm

I agree with the commentaries that agree with tall cabinets, but I don’t agree with putting larger, heavier items in them.

  25. @elizabethfahrlander6224 on February 10, 2025 at 7:29 pm

I appreciated the disclaimer, at the beginning, that you do not cook and do not enjoy cooking, because I immediately knew that this video probably wasn’t for me – an avid amateur chef. So even though I did not watch the video you’re getting a “like” and a comment for your honesty and for not wasting my time.

  26. @Mujioak on February 10, 2025 at 7:32 pm

im 15 still live with my mom so idk what im doing here but ill save this for the future 💀

  27. @davidmayer2984 on February 10, 2025 at 7:33 pm

I was amazed to see your label maker… I got one many years ago and it’s one of the most useful tools! I discovered that labeling storage containers not only helps me to effortlessly find things, but serves as a reminder of where to put things back without a thought. Its incredibly quick to make a label, similar to the time it would take to make a post-it note, and so much neater. Also useful on file folders, and to put dates on the bindings of completed journals.

  28. @flucheaux on February 10, 2025 at 7:33 pm

What brand and style of cabinets did you purchase? IKEA?

  29. @PraiseDanceLessons on February 10, 2025 at 7:34 pm

What are the drawer dividers at 8:06 called? All of our bottom shelves in our kitchen are those type, and it’s so hard to store anything in them. Do you have suggestions for how to maximize the space in those type. I feel like everything is gonna fall out the sides, but the bottom drawer is connected to the top, so I can’t put a box to use the full height or else I can’t get the items out of the bottom.

  30. @catherinechandler3250 on February 10, 2025 at 7:34 pm

Sorry you lost me 1 minute in when you had to use a stool to get your toaster!

  31. @MyChihuahua on February 10, 2025 at 7:34 pm

Spices over the stove AND next to the exhaust are being ‘cooked’ daily w the heat rising.

  32. @lolitalolipops4154 on February 10, 2025 at 7:35 pm

I;m a single person who hates cooking but I do every night because im physically on the go all day I get hungry .Tell me what you eat i need to know how you do it

  33. @bunnyguia on February 10, 2025 at 7:36 pm

think Ive watched a total of 10 videos today regarding organizing kitchen without it being too overwhelming. By far yours is what I like the most its because there wasnt alot of unnecessary things on the counter but also kept it aesthetically pleasing. Thanks for sharing

  34. @fezenstein on February 10, 2025 at 7:42 pm

What do you use for drawer liners? (If see some kind of grey surface?)

  35. @angelatuson972 on February 10, 2025 at 7:42 pm

After watching this, I’ve decided to swap kitty food and kiyc n aids (like blender and slow cooker). Kitty food is in a cupboard where I need to bend… but I use it multiple times a day, whereas the kitchen aids are in drawer at waist height and I rarely use them.

  36. @brentuttle on February 10, 2025 at 7:43 pm

Lovely video Benita, thank you. I’m sorry to read so many rude comments 😢

  37. @stilllookingfortreasure on February 10, 2025 at 7:49 pm

If I had that much built in storage, my kitchen would be so organized! I have small 3 drawers and a broken cupboard.😂

  38. @randallnet on February 10, 2025 at 7:49 pm

    Loved this!!! subscribed 🙌

  39. @lukvanleeuwen7603 on February 10, 2025 at 7:51 pm

Very structured and logical! What is the function of using hidden drawers over just getting multiple drawers? Or is it purely aesthetically?

  40. @chandaharkins4418 on February 10, 2025 at 7:52 pm

What kind of animal doesn’t line things up in their cabinets?! Just teasing. 🙂 Thanks for sharing! Lovely kitchen.

I thought you had mentioned that you do not have the color red in your home. You painted the red straps on your ladder. Have you changed your mind about the color red? Best wishes!

  43. @krisy-in-italy on February 10, 2025 at 7:53 pm

I just had my new kitchen installed and big drawers underneath are a game changer! You are so minimalist and everything so organized. I love to bake so have way too many items dedicated to that pass time. I am stealing your spice container idea. Right now my different bottles sit willy nilly in a small Amazon cardboard box inside a drawer between my cooktop and oven. It’s unsightly. 😂

  44. @Voeris1 on February 10, 2025 at 7:55 pm

What a modern, chill kitchen ❤enjoy it! (also I really like the smoothness of motion of your drawers)
