Fagor shut down and the best buy now links to presto. Not sure if amazon is randomly suggesting an alternative or if atk updated the link. Another comment says the new best buy is from Zavor, a rebrand of Fagor.

I could not see a description to “read”. But thanks for the input, I guess

Sorry Americas Test Kitchen…but this is truly the worst pressure cooker I have ever purchased. After about 4 uses it was no longer holding pressure and steam was spewed all over stove…gave it another shot , same results !!!

  6. @aimeemoffitt-mercer6414 on February 10, 2025 at 6:56 pm

Zavor DUO – this is where the FIRST and winning link takes you these days – 11 years later. Is this still your recommendation?

  7. @bigpagla on February 10, 2025 at 7:06 pm

FYI Fagoe duo 8 quart is now Zavor duo on Amazon. I think I’m getting it. Hope it holds up.

Thank you for the review. I was looking to buy one and knew I did not want it occupying the counter full time. I also wanted to use the pot for general non-pressure cooking. I settled on the Fissler which you mentioned came in number one in your test. I so much appreciate the no-nonsense review and element of science used in discussing the importance of achieving and maintaining pressure. This is the third product I’ve purchased based on your testing, in each case, I have been pleased with my (our) purchase decision. Thank you for the invaluable service. I’m a devoted admirer and would not consider buying something that was not on your list.

Don’t know how I lived without this for so long! I make dog food for 2 of our dogs https://www.youtube.com/post/UgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg (we have 5!) and it is so much quicker in this. Love having the inner pot stainless so I can use my immersion blender right in it without worrying about scratching. It makes potatoes great and fast! Still working on the vegetables, first time came out great, second time I did different ones and they were a little too mushy. Just need to adjust the time. I highly recommend this pot!!!

I bought a Kuhn Rikon despite the bad test score in terms of evaporation in this test.

I am glad to report that during my own test, the seal was actually excellent with no visible steam nor "bubble sound" suggesting any leaks.

I did check the manual and found that the vent will automatically vent if the pressure is too high – so this simply suggests the heat was too high during cooking.I guess its a failure on AMT’s part. They should redo the test.

I used an aluminium pressure cooker without issue for 14 years. Now have a steel one, just as good, but it’s way heavier.

Since I understand Savor is the new Fargo, I was checking were to get it here in California and checking some reviews, sadly they are not really good, which makes me wonder now what brand I have to get😳 Helpppp!!

I have had many pressure cookers in my life!!!
Some sooo expensive and they did not last and others less expensive but replacement parts were difficult to find.
So here I am looking for a large and good one!

  17. @simon4043 on February 10, 2025 at 7:16 pm

Short, sharp, to the point. In four minutes I have everything I need to know about pressure cookers.

  21. @NoferTrunions on February 10, 2025 at 7:17 pm

#1 requirement: 15 psi. And better yet an imported pot that reaches an even higher pressure.

  22. @TheAndred1 on February 10, 2025 at 7:17 pm

    thank you ,,brilliant

  23. @danam.8709 on February 10, 2025 at 7:18 pm

My pressure cooker is one of the first kitchen items I pack when evacuation events (hurrican season, wildfire events) occur. Just another way to look at important household items.😊

Was really interested to see what she had to say about Kuhn Rikon, but unfortunately no mention of it. I love their design.

I love how she describe the pots 😂

  30. @lisalovesfood on February 10, 2025 at 7:22 pm

They went out of business. Do you have a new recommendation or is it all about insta pots now? Love ATK btw 🙂

  31. @ariespain6472 on February 10, 2025 at 7:24 pm

She’s very well informed! You could tell they really tested all of these cookers

  32. @mediaguardian on February 10, 2025 at 7:24 pm

Someone below quoted you as saying "The rebranded model by Zavor is our new Best Buy." But you are linking to a Presto model. I am a bit confused.

I never realized it was the aluminium that was giving some stuff that metal taste. beat myself up thinking it was my fault. I was literally about to buy another aluminium one until now. Thank you very much.

Would be nice if they told us which ones they tested?

  42. @MrChriskep1 on February 10, 2025 at 7:37 pm

Why wont my Fagor Duo pressurize!!? I got one for Christmas and it worked ok for a while but very hard to get it to pressurize. Not the gasket, it’s the chincy plastic pressure control letting out too much steam. Finally it blew a hole through the handel when i tried holding it down to pressurize. Just try finding a replacement part! My last pressure cooker with the weight regulator was still going strong when the kids got me this new one. I unfortunately threw it out! arghh! Later I got my daughter a pressure cooker not realizing it was the same company as mine and the damn thing has not worked once right out of the box. Same issue wont pressurize.

  46. @jasoncarrie-annbreitkreuz4927 on February 10, 2025 at 7:43 pm

Works awesome … I use it to make beans (pre-soak over night to cook on high for 10 minutes then heat off natural release for 20 minutes)

  47. @81Garret on February 10, 2025 at 7:46 pm

Not to mention cooking in aluminum can cause dementia

I just bought this "WMF Perfect" pressure cooker two weeks ago. You can do what you want but this pressure pot is just leaking. It hisses softly or it drips where you can see the rubber seal. Since WMF is always twice as expensive as other brands this is rather annoying. Of course, you can’t return the pot once you’ve used it.
