Storing Meal Prep and Keeping it Fresh
Storing Meal Prep and Keeping it Fresh
How I Store and Keep Meal Prep Fresh πππ
Showing you all how I store meals in the fridge and freezer to maximize flavor and freshness!
1.) whatever I plan to eat within the next 3-4 days goes straight into the fridge
2.) the rest of the meals go into the freezer, where they can last up to 6 months
3.) pick a meal from the fridge and reheat it in the microwave; I keep the lid on and slightly off-center to allow the meal to steam
4.) transfer a meal from the freezer to the fridge and place it in the back of the line; this gives it 1-2 days to defrost before reheating
5.) as I cook fresh meals for dinners throughout the week, I turn leftovers into extra meal prep
6.) I add these extra meals into the freezer and fridge to create even more of a variety
7.) I try to meal prep 2-3 different meals a week in addition to cooking 2-3 fresh homemade dinners a week; this gives us at least 4-6 different meals to choose from
8.) repeat the cycle and enjoy!

Not a good idea to keep microwaving plastic containers! Invest in glass
Are these kinds of containers good at keeping the food from freezer burn?
I usually wipe the moisture out of the containers, it bugs me
What about you heating it in plastic
Thanks
This is vert helpful Matt! Thank you!
What meal prep boxes do you use? Are they BPA free?
To avoid freezer burn never put warm meals in freezer, cool them down. Put a sheet of plastic wrap down first if lid is a little loose, just remember to remove it before cooking! Also, make a few first and see how they work in your freezer so as not to ruin an entire batch. JMT π
Heating up plastic is always a good ideaπ
Never heat in plastic π«π«π«
I wish I had freezer space to do this
Too much plastic !
Honestly, thatβs the best way!
I use glass meal prep containers because i use a dish washer. I noticed little scratches which meant plastic in the food. but the putting it in the fridge to thaw on a rotation is a great idea.
Nice
Thank you for this video, because when i store my meals in those containers they always break, I don’t know what I did wrong but it breaks.
Good idea for rotation. I always save my take-out containers and reuse them. I know glass may be better but I also like to reuse and put less in the trash.
I used to meal prep like this but I put on so much weight! There was always something to eat π
YUM MICROPLASTICS
Can I ask something?
I like eating my food cold (yes Iβm a weirdo) so if I take a meal out of the freezer and let it fully defrost if I eat it without warming it up will it taste horrible?
So those containers dont melt in the microwave? Thats cool….ive been throwing mine away oops
It seems like everyone missed the latest research on the dangers, toxic nature of plastic, versus clear plastic versus white plastic. Black plastic is the most toxic.
Great explanation and visual!
Plastic is a big no go for me. You did everything else right.
I love my leftovers the next day is always better. After a few days in refrigerator I freeze it.
Great system! Thanks for sharing.
This is exactly what I needed to see for prep. I often wouldnβt eat everything in 3-4 days so it would go bad. Will put in the freezer and put it in the back to thaw and eat. Thank you for this!β
May i know what fridge do u use .
Thanks! This is such a useful tip specially if you dont have that much time to cook everyday! π
When did you cook all of this?
What a huge refrigerator!!!
this is genius!
I seen those containers around in my grocery store. I can not think of the name for it but those are cool to have. I reuses mines when I get takeouts from a certain place.
Use glass containers and do not microwave in plastic.
Greatβ€ thanks for sharing. I think using an electric oven to heat food is healthier tha microwave oven since it leads to cancersπ€
That’s a years worth of food
So smart. Glad I found your site.
Don’t microwave plastic.
Oh okay ππ½
Omg this is so great. Thank you!
Food is a blessing from God, thanks for sharing this!!!ππ»β€οΈ
To those containers stop freezer burn?
That plastic youβre using is so fckn unhealthy. Look up how bad the black plastic is. Or donβt care. Idc. Eat the plastic after the food. But ya. Js
Black plastic is super toxic!!! Change to glass. β€β€β€ awesome on everything else.
microwave is not good
I meal prep for the year (365). It usually takes me just under a week to get it all done.
Great ideas! I bet you normally let food cool but had to hurry and get this video done!π I just want to tell the peopleβ¦ Let food cool first. Thereβs condensation on the lids which means there was still steam in the food when the lid was put on. This added moisture can alter the taste of the food and allow it to go bad faster. It can also make the food a little soggy.
