Hi Steve — future content request: 1) help renovate a small kitchen for your parents in assisted living. Downsizing from your grand luxury kitchen to a much smaller footprint but still want some nice appliances without going Uber-expensive. They may not be there very long!

Hurricane Katrina destroyed my home in New Orleans. After the storm we went back to see what we could salvage. One thing in my kitchen worked and looked virtually untouched. My Viking cooktop. Sucker turned right on and didn’t show any damage despite being surrounded by water and destruction. Amazing.

I really loved the overview of what’s out there in terms of brands, quality, options, and most importantly; being able to be serviced. Thank you. 🥸

  5. @mitchk2981 on February 10, 2025 at 7:06 pm

If it is made in China, don’t touch it. If it is from Korea, it is never going to be top quality. Also, the less electronics, the better.

  6. @etjulien on February 10, 2025 at 7:06 pm

This was very well done. Thank you for all the good info! Happy Holidays!

THANKS FOR REVIEW, BUT WHAT ABOUT >>RESTART<< ???

  8. @davelindgren5245 on February 10, 2025 at 7:11 pm

I have owned Viking appliances for the last 22 years.
The oven and cooktop work very well and last.
The firdge is a $17,000 pile of dog crap.
We are on our 2nd after the first one was recalled.
The 2nd one is almost as bad as the first.
The doors don’t line up, they squeek, and you pray that it works.

  9. @kdockrey on February 10, 2025 at 7:11 pm

Is there anything new with Wolf Induction cooktops or ranges? If so, it didnt make the cut.

  10. @MS-wh5lt on February 10, 2025 at 7:13 pm

my monogram stuff has performed very well I like the smart functionality as I’m not smart in the kitchen. The only problem I’ve had was with the dishwasher, but they’ve always come out very quick even after owning it for over a year and never charged me. Maybe I’m special or something LOL

I have Wolf LP gas right before Covid ( very pricey) and comparing to few of my other families member using other brand LP gas range. Wolf still the best LP gas range in term of cooking top range you’ll get your water up to broiling temp in short time; however, the electric oven built into the oven does not give me an even heat temperature that I would like-so I have to make adjustment when baking. Induction range can’t give the high heat if you are more than an average cooker and you won’t get your Hong Kong steak like the restaurant style or dried stir fry green beans crispy.

  12. @nelsonds75 on February 10, 2025 at 7:16 pm

    Why am I watching this?

  13. @bluedrummajor2876 on February 10, 2025 at 7:19 pm

I’d be interested in a dual range that had an induction top and a gas oven.

  14. @debbiegee2835 on February 10, 2025 at 7:19 pm

Best luxury brand appliance no way equal to a very good cook. It is a fact.

  15. @loopbloke on February 10, 2025 at 7:19 pm

Thermador. I don’t want to know about anything else.

  16. @tomp9447 on February 10, 2025 at 7:20 pm

Thanks for the video, very informative. I don’t know if you realize but your sound quality is off a bit.

  18. @bertde3092 on February 10, 2025 at 7:26 pm

    No Dacor products?

  19. @charleshamilton9274 on February 10, 2025 at 7:28 pm

AGA? They may well be British-chic but good luck finding service outside the UK. Yikes. I love my KitchenAid and Sub Zero appliances. And, above all, absolutely no Korean crap.

  20. @litoboy5 on February 10, 2025 at 7:29 pm

    Cool

I have cooked on many professional stoves and baked in many professional ovens. You’re not getting commercial grade equipment when you buy these professional home equipment. In my past experience, all of them kind of come out about the same. The one thing that I do find at times unsatisfactory is the enamel equipment the burners are placed around. Once they get baked on or in, it’s almost impossible to keep them clean. So your professional stove will look kind of dingy after the first 6 months of cooking. I wish with all the Innovations in the industry. If someone could come up with the material where the burners are surrounded with. That can resist baked in oils and Butters so forth, so on that stain that become dark spots. Can be removed easily. That’s all l ask for. GOD BLESS. Happy New Year!

  22. @richgetz on February 10, 2025 at 7:30 pm

    The audio wasn’t great.

  23. @peterrabbit2719 on February 10, 2025 at 7:31 pm

When shopping for professional appliances what’s the average discount retailer’s give off MSRP. ( This doesn’t include holiday sales and rebates given by the manufacturer ) What’s the culture of appliance retailers and how do you get the best price ( hopefully not like buying a car ). In particular I’m looking to purchase a SKSGR36S 36” all gas range MSRP $6,499. Your advice is always appreciated. Happy Holidays.

  25. @drwisdom1 on February 10, 2025 at 7:31 pm

I consider not having an icemaker and water dispenser a feature, not a deficiency.

  26. @sctexan5392 on February 10, 2025 at 7:33 pm

We currently have Thermador gas cook top, double oven, and "dishwasher" . We’ve enjoyed the products and haven’t had any issues in 8 years of use. We’re likely to move in the next year or two. Do you think that they will upgrade their products to make up for the short comings they have, based on some of your other views? Maybe if you know, you can do a video of changes the brands are making. (P$, we’ll be changing to the induction cooktop. Really like the Freedom model too )

  27. @scottmackey4182 on February 10, 2025 at 7:35 pm

When speaking about the Fisher + Paykel dishwasher drawer (1:20), you went right into a wide range of baking options (1:23). Not sure how you use a dishwasher drawer for baking.

  28. @Boreese-cj2vm on February 10, 2025 at 7:36 pm

You left off Heston. They have great cooking for both indoor and outdoor.

Is Jenn Air not a good brand?

  30. @maxcaysey2844 on February 10, 2025 at 7:39 pm

    Where is Molteni?

  31. @jerrywarren9708 on February 10, 2025 at 7:39 pm

Surprised they covered True refrigeration but did not cover the real king in America, Perlick.

  32. @Palanibert on February 10, 2025 at 7:41 pm

I liked your information but not your presentation. Please consider improving your diction. You were difficult to understand at times.

  33. @leningbr on February 10, 2025 at 7:44 pm

Good morning. Thanks for sharing. Respectful comments. You show at least the equipment. You show too much in the video.

  34. @samshare2146 on February 10, 2025 at 7:46 pm

    Refrigerators, freezers = SubZero
    Dishwashers = Miele
    Cooktop, Rangetops = Viking, Wolf.
    Oven = also Viking, Wolf.

    There.
These are the best brands to get (unless one wants to go uber luxury and get things like Molteni, Le Cornue, etc.).
    Drawback?
    They are expensive.
A SubZero freezer/fridge combo will easily cost $20k. A good Miele dishwash can be $2k-$3k+. Viking and Wolf cooktops/range tops are $5k-$10k and their ovens are $10k+. A Wolf microwave will be $2k. Right there is $40k in just the bare appliances for the (primary) kitchen. Add wine coolers or a beverage center, a warming cabinet, etc. and all the other small appliances one needs, and the total cost of a kitchen can get quite high.
    Advantage?
These are extremely reliable. My SubZero in my NY home is now over 30 years old. The one in my TX home is over 20 years old.

  35. @johnwayne2103 on February 10, 2025 at 7:48 pm

Wonderful presentation! Quick and easy, You gave me the baby and left out the labor.
I am inclined to purchase separate appliances. I am more about function rather than form.

  36. @ajibolasoladoye9895 on February 10, 2025 at 7:49 pm

I wish Subzero french door refrigerator is all stainless for the price tag . Other brands like thermador, sks, miele refrigerators are all stainless.

I like how you kept leading me to believe that you were going to do the Heisman but it was just a fake out!

  39. @drrnwllmsn3438 on February 10, 2025 at 7:53 pm

A minimal amount of electronics leads to a longer longevity.
